Why this project:
The data presently available on the production of organic agriculture in Australia has been shown to be questionable (see OTARE Position Paper 1601).
Project goals:
OTARE undertakes to independently publish reliable data on organic agriculture in Australia.
Project outcome:
In 2010-11 the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) included organic agriculture in its census, which was repeated in 2015-16. In this paper the progress of the Australian organic world between those two years is tracked.
The data relate to farm-gate values of a number of commodities, and include some details about explaining factors such as area planted and production.
Requests for data specific to individual requirements, such as for specific states or commodities, can be accommodated by arrangement.
